J. Margaret Ada Mutch Award

CUPHSONAA donated $50,000 to Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) to create an endowed scholarship fund in honor of Ms. J. Margaret Ada Mutch's 100th birthday. Ms. Mutch served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Nurse corps, directing nursing in Army hospitals in the European Theater of Operations. With a master's degree, she earned the positions of assistant director of nursing and assistant professor of nursing at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. She was instrumental in helping to forge the bond between Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University beginning in the late 1930's. She had the vision to understand educational trends and the needs of the nursing profession.
